Ever expereinced synchronicity, when events happen together, but seemingly by chance?

Was looking at a youtube video of Neil Young and Pearl Jam singing Long road and Julia Roberts appears at the start.... at the very same time I looked up at the Television with Friends being on and there again was Julia Roberts guest starring in an episoide. amazing I know

So has anyone ever experienced synchronicity in their life?

Is that not coincidence, not syncronicity?

Paul Merton "Your thinking about someone you haven't seen for fifteen years and the phone rings and it's them?"
Stephen Fry "Wouldn't it be weird if that never happened? During the course of a day I may think about 200 people. It would be strange if over my lifetime no-one rang who I was thinking about at any one time! Wouldn't that be weird!"

Happens to me all the time.

Had a great multi-layered one the sunday before last.

I was on Boards and reading the thread on AH about the trolling coconut.

At the same time I was watching grim oop-North-English-1950s-kitchen-sink-drama "The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Runner."

At that exact moment the main character, who spends most of the film in borstal, was trying to hide some stolen money. When his mother walked in on him and his friend, they said they were trying to crack a coconut, just like the OP in the thread.

Then when the film ended I switched over to the TV, and the first thing that came on was the BBC Countryfile programme and at that exact moment the narrator was talking about an old building that used to be a borstal.
"Borstal" was about the second or third word spoken after I switched over.

I know it was just coincidence, but it was a great one!

Humans are fierce for the seeking of patterns and meaning. That's why women knit exotic aran jumpers for priests.

We were on holiday in Portugal, in 2000 I think it was.

Me, my dad and my brother went for a walk to the town, and my mom was going to go somewhere else with my baby brother (I can't remember where). About half a mile down the road, my brother stopped at said to my dad 'I want to go back', so we did - no arguments, strangely.

We got back and found my mom had had a really bad fall (along with my baby brother in a pram) down the steps of the hotel (there wasn't a ramp). Luckily they both weren't hurt too badly, but it could have been worse.

I always thought that was strange.

It can also be known as serendipity.

Careful though, can drive you mad.

I often know who a phonecall is from before I see the name come up. And it's not cos I'm expecting them to ring either, it's strange.

my dad was dying and we were in the family room in the hospital and the fire alarm which happened to be right on the outside of the room we were in went off, so we made a run for it and got to his room just as he closed his eyes for the last time.

I'm not sure I've seen the word before about 3 hours ago. :)

I was working in Roches Stores a good few years ago, was dying for a fag so I snuck out, got outside leaned against the wall and searched for my fags and lighter, realised I didn't have a lighter so I turned to the person smoking alongside me and said 'sorry do you have a light please', then looked at the person to realise it was my mom, I probably snuck out for a fag 6 times in 3 and a half years and the one time I don't have a lighter and ask a random person without looking at them it's my mom, I know it's just a coincidence but it was very weird.

You were listening to Pearl Jam & watching friends at the same time?

Are you permanently stuck in 1995?
