Carbon fibre rifle barrel

Has anyone ever thought about putting a carbon fibre wrapped barrel on their rifle. They're supposed to give a serious reduction in weight, and since they cool 300% faster than steel, barrel life is increased significantly

Only claim that I would say is true, is that it is lighter. Carbon/epoxy has 50% by weight epoxy resin. Epoxy is a good insulater. Heat transfer is therefore not that great. Stiffness of steel is higher than of carbon, espcially if wrapped. If one has a very large diameter barrel then the carbon barrel will become stiff and heavier.
I think carbon in this application is the wrong material.
I even think aluminium like Lothar Walther uses is not a great choice. In both cases one has to many material properties fighting each other.
If, then I would prefer the Aluminium barrel to a carbon wrapped.

This is a very thick Lothar Walther barrel on a Howa in an Ultra light carbon stock. Total weight of this rig is 2.9kg. Very accurate rifle that has won a few competitions. 260rem
