Im making a list of rain based films (obviously im bored).
    So far ive got

Hard rain - Set during a massive flood started by a dam accident in a small town, Christian Slater is an armored truck guard who gets robbed by Morgan Freeman.

    Sin city

    Bowfinger (Chubby rain reference)

Shaw shank redemption - if im going to allow myself away with bowfinger then the fact that "Andy Dufresne crawled to freedom through five hundred yards of **** smelling foulness I can't even imagine" during a storm no doubt.

    Anyone else?

    O and waterworld dont count

Did anyone else want to punch Andie McDowell really hard in the face when she didn't notice it was raining? Perhaps the single worst delivered line in the history of cinema. Or at least non dodgy sci-fi cinema.

In the spirit of things i just watched a film called cold weather. slow film to start but it gets better as it goes on. Though the weather in it didnt seem too cold if you ask me.

on another note what about point break. starts and ends in the rain.

Les Diaboliques 1955, has a water theme with lots of rain. There's also the American remake Diabolique with Sharon Stone from 1996.

The battle for Helm's Deep was pretty rainy.

And I love the line and scene from Forrest Gump about the rain:

"One day it started raining, and it didn’t quit for four months. We been through every kind of rain there is. Little bitty stingin’ rain … and big ol’ fat rain. Rain that flew in sideways. And sometimes rain even seemed to come straight up from underneath. And then one day it just stopped."

Jurrasic Park? There's the opening raptor bit in the rain, but mainly the storm is cover for nedry's heist is what kicks off the whole t-rex attack on the jeeps in the rain. An Nedry himself gettin chomped on :D

    Yes. Yes there is ;)

That said, there are many 'three act structure' screenwriting enthusiasts who will go on at length about how perfectly formed the film is - it hits traditional story beats, turning points, midpoints, climaxes etc... almost mathematically. One man's 'perfectly formed' is another's 'formulaic garbage', though.
