hard drive issue

    if when i am transferring a file(avi s normally) from one of the internal hard drives to another one and everything slows down while im doing it does that mean the hard drive is dying/failing?

    Would be no harm to run diagnostics on the slow drive (You can get Seatools which is a good one onUltimateBootCD), it could be the drive is also badly fragmented, maybe look into defragmenting the drive also? As hard drives get older they also get slower in my expierience, so it could be just "wear and tear"

    Right click on My Computer, click on Manage and select Event Viewer->System in the panel on the left hand side (or Event Viewer->Windows Logs->System if you have Windows 7). If your hdd is failing you will see a lot of hard drive related error messages related.

    What's happening to you might also indicate problem with DMA but first check the windows log as it's a quick and easy check
