Hey, I'm in first year history. Im doing a history essay and the word limit is 1,000 words just wondering if they're very strict on this or if it can be a good bit over? Thanks!

I'm not certain about this but I think they allow about 10% over or under the limit.

yeh its 10% either way. too much and you might be waffling and they dont like that at all.

The biggest issue is how justified the extra content is. They'd much prefer 900 words of concise and well researched argument over 1100 words of rambling waffle. If your argument deserves some extra space to finish it off then go over 1k, but if you're just being lazy in your editing then...well, stop being lazy.

This goes for basically all academic essays ever.
