If you really want a new bike this Carrera from Halfords looks like good value. It has Tiagra shifters, carbon fork and Shimano R500 wheels. You can usually get 15% off Halfords prices with an AXA voucher.

Groupset quality hierarchy is 2200, 2300, Sora, Tiagra, 105 Old, 105 New, Ultegra, Dura Ace. For €600 new you'll probably be looking at 2300 or Sora on an aluminium framed bike. However, if you buy second-hand you could possibly get a carbon bike with a 105 groupset. People who bought €1000 bikes under Bike to Work Scheme and never used them are a good place to start:pac:.

Because the bike has a compact geometry the 54cm is meaningless! Whether the Large would fit you or not is anyone's guess as Halfords do not see fit to publish the frame geometry. Instead they suggest you go to your local Halfords where someone who knows absolutely nothing about bike sizing will make a wild guess based on what they have in stock and what they had for breakfast.

At 6'2" you probably want a bike with a headtube size of 170-180 and an effective top tube of 570-580. It doesn't really have to be bang on as you can use spacers and stem size to correct! Obviously you don't want something completely out though.
