Apple help line

Would anyone have a normal (not 1850 or 1890) number for calling Apple's tech support? While these 1850 numbers are theoretically local calls, they're not included on many (including my) packages.

Apple had set up an appointment to call me today. The call broke down after 30 seconds or so, and they never called me back. There appears to be no way of contacting them other than using these expensive numbers, or setting up another call-back for a week from now.

Same thing, @aware - all those 1-8 numbers are charged extra on most phone packages. I just need a local number.

Can't believe they're so inefficient they didn't even call back, much less send me one of their "were you satisfied with our service" emails! They called from the number 021 238 0596, and when I called that back there was an automated message saying that was Apple tech support and they'd call me back - which comforted me until I phoned from a different number and got the same message!

That is a free fone number. I don't get charged from my mobi. It's not like a 1850 or 1890 number

Hmm, wonder if you're right. My landline has free calls to *local* and *national* and some *international* numbers, but normally those 1-8 numbers are all charged. And my mobile has "other network" minutes, which I'd say include 1800 minutes.

The only numbers available are 18 numbers, there is no local number that would get you to the help desk queue.

What a pain! I wouldn't mind if they'd ring back. There I was describing my CPU problem and ffft, off goes the call, and no sign of them calling back.
