I'd rather hope this dosen't turn into a lets berate and give abuse towards the referee's, rather discuss decisions that were wrong and right like adults :)

Let start with one I think Phil Dowd got terribly wrong. Hutton's tackle on Long. Disgracefully bad tackle, didn't get a yellow card for it. Should have been red.

Secondly in the same game. Darren Cann signalling for Chris Herd to be sent off for a stamp, I can see where he was coming from, looking from where he was it most certainly would have looked like a stamp however he should be 100% sure it was a stamp

I'm really looking to know peoples opinions on Jonny Evans red card as well as Bosingwa's and Drogba's.

Did it deserve a red card?

Hutton: Yes. (Challenge was wild, if he came in about 50 km/h slower it would have been ok)
    Herd: No. (Didnt stamp)
Evans: Yes. (Last man, clear goalscoring opp)
Bosingwa: No. (Thought it was both pulling at each other tbh)
Drogba: Yes. (Reckless, cant be doin that)

Thats from seeing them on MOTD, of course if I didnt see it properly by Boards.ie soccer forum logic I am deluded. This thread wont last imo.

So 60% correct then which is pretty rubbish for guys doing a full-time job.
Having said that what with all the play acting and the increased pace of the game it’s becoming an increasingly difficult job which would be helped by a second referee or video technology.

Came across this interview with Brian Clough last night and the points he makes are every bit as relevent now as they were then.

Going by the book every one of them as far as the referee is concerned are red cards.

Drogba, 2 footed, left the ground, no arguement from anyone

Evans, Last man, pretty stupid to be honest as it wasn't even in the box but red card

Boswinga, Terry was too far away, not covering, yes they both tugged but at the end of the day Bosingwa's tug caused SWP to go down

Herd, yes I said everyone of them as far as the referee is concerned is a red, from where Darren Cann is it would 100% look like a stamp and he would award a penalty and instruct Phil Dowd to send off Herd. This however will be rescinded as it was just a wrong decision by the referee.
