    Hi,

Shattered ipod touch 4th gen (camera front and back)
Replacement screen €35 fitting service €25

Can't really afford the fitting service and am happy to risk replacing it myself. Have seen all of the instructional videos and am happy to proceed with the exception of..

The guides mention heating up the adhesive on the glass sides to help with ease of removal but none of the guides I have watched mention anything about reassembly. Assuming it the reversal of the removal procedure all seems straight forward with the exception of the replacement of the adhesive, have any members had the experience of doing this and can advise?

    Ta...

That seems a cheap price for replacement screen.
You have to replace the screen and digitizer with the 4th gen.
I recently got one fixed from a guy on adverts.ie as I think they are a bit of a nitemare to do.
It cost me €80 to get fixed.

Hi There, well, my sons ipod touch ( 4th gen) fell on the tiles and the whole glass shattered. Being a DIY person i felt it could probably be repaired easily enough.
I've looked up the web and looked at video's etc so i ordered myself the glass replacement kit from a place in the UK. The whole lot only cost about 14stg.
With regard to the glue part on the screen, it needs to be reversed ok when putting back on.
I've done this kind of thing before so its easy enough if you just take your time, be patient. The glue is a fairly low melt type stuff to just hold the plastic in place with enough force.
If you need any more help then let me know or go through some of the better youtube videos. These are quite good. ;)

    Hi richiek67,
Where did you buy the replacement kit from exactly? My iPhone 4 fell the other day, and the glass shattered. Loads of replacement kits on the web but hard to know which are the best & which work. Could you PM me the details please?

    Hi There,

I got it from the following,
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280716514115

Hope this link works, mind you, i havent received it yet, though I did only order it last friday. Should get it tomorrow with any luck. The best thing to do it your situation, i find i cant choose either with so many sellers, is to look at the feedback ( no.1), no. 2 see that they are not charging huge postage fees, usually 2-6 stg for a small packet is the norm. 3. try not to get it from hong kong, parts from here could be dodgy. Although who's to say the person selling these didn't get them from there in the first place if its a Uk address...u never know!
Make sure they also off a return option. That way they wont be selling fake goods. They wont want them coming back !!!

Hope this helps, Let me know if you havea prob'

I've fixed about 10 so far.
It is difficult, it's no 3G/s anyway.
Be very careful removing the old screen, the hotter the better.
The problems I've had are breaking the button flex which is a solder on job to fix and also breaking the loud speaker cable which is easy enough to fix.
It's expensive to fix for reason
