Appears the storms last night had a bad outcome on the roof of Faro International in Portugal.

Authorities say a nighttime storm tore part of the roof off Faro airport in Portugal's southern Algarve region, injuring five people and causing flight disruption.

Officials say roof panels over the check-in area of the departure terminal peeled off when the storm hit at around 5 a.m. Monday.

Local media said hundreds of passengers were stranded at the airport as authorities canceled or delayed departures and diverted incoming planes.

Reports said damage to the airport structure meant cafes and restaurants did not open, leaving waiting passengers without food or drink.

The Algarve is Portugal's main vacation destination and one of Europe's most popular. Faro airport handles more than 4 million passengers a year.

Strange that there's no mention in the METARs at all, and the hourly synop reports mention nothing either (all manned reports).

I called over to the airport on Wednesday, the whole arrivals area is closed off, completely destroyed. Flights were just getting back to normal by Thursday
