I'm thinking of upgrading to Sky+ HD and I'm wondering what use (if any) will the exisiting Sky+ box will be to me after it's replaced.

I have a FTV box in another room, would the Sky+ box be a better option there or is it worth the hassle of changing?

You can always use the Sky box as another fta box somewhere else in your house, it wont make any difference to your original setup, you cannot use the record functions without an active sub to sky, however it mite be worth trying your FTV card in it as some FTV cards do have the recording functions still enabled but it is rare.
