attic insulation help

the house is a pitched roof bungalow, 20 years old very poor insulation at the moment. I hope that I'll be doing some additional wiring and also plumbing jobs sometime when I can afford it. So I was thinking if I go for a rafter type insulation, that I can do this now and disruption from further work would be minimised.

The sprayed foam looks the quickest and easiest (too good to be true?), the kingspan k7 stuff looks impresive, the green wool stuff would cost a large fortune.

Then there is the whole ventulated or not that I simply don't follow and the seai 'help' sheets don't help. Even when using their installers selection it returns over 600 for my region that simply says 'roof insulation'.

So struggling a bit to decide what I need before I can even start - any help appreciated.

thats ten rolls of that earth wool
which will cover a big area

If I use earth wool, my understanding is that I keep 50mm between it and the felt, then under this i.e. on the inside of the house I need to place a moisture protection layer.

But if I were to go the spray foam stuff there is no vent layer, simply spray away?

    To the OP:

Get professional advise and don't spray yourself.
With a direct adhession to the existing felt there is a severe risk that condensation can happen.
