On Behalf of the Unite Bikers of Ireland.

    Hello to everyone on Boards.ie.

Basically over the last few months and from before the last protest, a number of bikers in and out of the MCC scene have been independently contacting TD’s MEP’s biker groups etc.. in person , having meetings and asking questions. We are just a group of individuals that tried to put in a lot of effort asking questions, and to try to hold a protest run and make our case in relation to the EU proposals.

All our efforts, printing, advertising, travel, days off work, etc.. are at our own cost. We want to try help the biking community in Ireland if we can by asking questions in the right areas so that if we can’t stop the Bill, we can knock enough sharp edges off it, to cushion the impact by the time it does come in. We are not promising anything but we are trying !

We know that a lot of other bikers and biking groups are trying different approaches and absolutely, the more the merrier. We have had lots of offers of help from other bikers who have time available to help, or have contacts they can use to help. Any and all help is welcome.

To give you an idea of what we have done so far:
We have emailed and written to many TD’s and MEPs’
We have met with a number of MEP’s, had lengthy meetings and handed over further details of our arguments.
The MEPs understand our position and do agree that our logical arguments do have merit and deserve looking into.
We have had questions raised in Europe already
We have met with various local TD’s and Leinster House TD’s of various parties who have also asked questions on our behalf.
We have been in Leinster House twice last week alone
We have met with Minister for Transport Leo Varadker and expressed our concerns and the implications for bikers in Ireland.
We have placed adverts in local papers supporting the protest.
We have issued press releases on the protest and the meeting with Minister Varadker to local and national press.

We have arranged staging and meeting places across the country for each county to start their journey from, and to then collectively meet in a central location on the 29th.
The organizers at the local end are organizing rescue vans, marshals, Garda escorts, local papers and local politicians at each starting point at each local starting point.

When the various groups meet up we will be travelling to the Dail in one long protest with Garda escort through the City. We will have , printed flyers for all bikers and public in attendance, explaining our objections, we will have a petition that we will be handing to a number of MEP’s and TD’s who have agreed to be there to receive us. We will have press photographers in attendance and will be issuing press release to all media on the day.

Guys we are trying our best, but we need your help to turn out on the day.
We are not excluding anyone, as we do need help.
We are putting posters up across the county, we are trying to tell all bikers about the run, local papers, local radio stations. If you can offer any help, please do contact us through our web site as this is not a closed group – we are open to all genuine help. Please pass the word out, please give us the benefit of the doubt – we have no hidden agenda. I want to keep biking. It is what I love and who and what I am.

It is not the case that Europe will decide without us. We do have a real say in the voting . Our MEP’s are there to look after Irelands' interests. They have been receptive to our arguments on how it will effect you and I and every biker now and into the future. We don’t want to be a voice in the wild, so please if you can make it, please help by joining our protest , or by promoting the events if you can.

Please check to www.unitedbikersofireland.com for more information . The site has just gone up, and more details will be uploaded for Monday

Thanks everyone, and we hope to see you on the 29th.

    Alan
