    Hey guys,

Just wondering has anyone ever used i-electron on Cook St in Cork?

    Link

Just want to find out if anyone has any experience with them servicing/cleaning lenses.

Just to let people know. I would not recommend these guys. Had a lens repaired and had all sorts of hassle, took 2 months to be fully repaired and in the end it had to be sent to a different company. I would NEVER go near I-electron.

Hope this will be useful to someone who may be searching through google or boards in the future.

Of course you do. Ask them for the old item back that they replaced and have that fully tested

Sorry to bring up an old post, but as I saw this thread, I couldn't let it pass.

I worked there once, and it's the worst company I've ever seen in my life, they threat people like crap. But you can tell straight away when you see employees quitting their job there every month.

They claim to have "qualified engineers" on their website, when all the people in there are hired directly from the streets. I saw two new guys in there breaking customers phones in their first attempt to open one. Scary.

In their "cleaning process" for water damaged devices they use TAP WATER in a jewelry cleaner for the motherboard of the device, without taking off the protective soldered shields... They charge 65€ for this scam, either it works or not. You have to use special chemical liquid in a proper ultrasonic cleaner before you actually fix the damaged components on the board, which is something they don't do because everybody in there lacks of knowledge.

They offer data recovery from hard drives without having ANY equipment or a clean room for it. Never they go over software recovery and end up closing the tickets as "not repairable". And people actually pay for this, from all over the country.

One of the owners is an "engineer" who said "we can just run a wire" when a fuse is missing. You can get an idea of how great this is.

I also saw many times how they destroyed devices by shorting them by accident and all types of things... Avoid these people, you are safer going to a butcher to fix anything.

Makes sense why I had to go back 4 times with an iPhone, screen replacement.

First the screen didn't line up with the front facing camera lens, and then the touch screen just went crazy and bizuurk ( interesting this is probably down to not using correct chemical liquid for contact points)

    thanks for the share.

They use the crappiest compatible screens you could ever see. I have never seen so many knockoffs in a batch. Like 5/10 would have touch issues. And sometimes even the home button wouldnt fit in the screen itself. They also refurbish some crap screens and sell them like "new".

Also it is funny they sell the company like "100% Irish owned" when it is 100% Hungarian.

Wish I had read this thread before I went to these guys but they were recommended by the mac shop close by. I sent my iPad mini in with a broken screen, other than that it was working perfectly. They fixed the screen but told me there was an internal problem whereby the device would now not power up beyond 1%. The image that comes up on the screen is too pixelated to be a proper mac image so I suspect they have removed a valuable internal component to fix soneone elses device and left me with a totally non-functional one. I am going to inform the mac shop not to recommend this place to anyone again. Total cowboys.

I tried to get them to fix my phone before Christmas.

There were issues with misquoting prices, which jumped once they had the phone in their possession (sent via DPD). This was after several failed attempts to arrange collection (not DPD's fault, they could hardly be expected to collect the phone when they were never contacted by iElectron in the first place).

Phone came back with new problems a month later.

Absolutely avoid these chancers. Awful to deal with awful service and awful results.
