oil burner timer setting off trip switch

    hi so at two this morning the power to all the switches goes off i go down and the fuse switch has gone off so i switch all plugs off still no joy get hubby out of bed turn out its the timer on the oil heating so we turn it off and go back to bed turn heating on this morning its grand , put it back on the timer and when it goes to the time for it to go it trips the system again :( any one know why?

    Just replace the timeclock. , they dont last forever , on a different note : why on earth would you have your heating timed to come on at 2am

    most likely not a timer fault
    check the wiring to see if they are frayed or burned
    also check if there is any water leaking onto boiler connections
    also check the pump(it may be on the way out)
    if you can unplug the pump and try fire the boiler it will indicate where the fault lies

    All good points but she said that it works grand until its set on timer , this points towards the time clock

    ah because there are little people in the house and it was set to come on for 15 mins just to warm the house up durning the night
    Thanks for all the ideas i think its the timer hubby had it on today no bother so will wait and see if its ok when the timer kicks in tonight:rolleyes:
