    www.shareladder.com

It's a stockmarket educational site which features a monthly newsletter and a model portfolio, which is up nearly 50% ( excluding dividends and capital gains ) in 18 months, based upon the newsletter. Subscribers also receive a half monthly update, weekly email and can avail of subscriber meetings. We also do seminars and one on one meetings. The site also features a blog, forum, charts, news, indicators and stock prices from all exchanges.

If you want a free trial to really look at the site just contact my business partner Pat on 085 8521273 ( or go to free trial button on site ) and say that you are from Boards.ie.

Any tips, suggestions, ideas or general comments appreciated.

    Marcel

You need to get a decent designer to give it a makeover as there are quite a few issues which need addressing. You also need to get a better grasp of what potential users want by putting yourself more in their shoes and address those matters.

    A few issues:
    • The look and feel isn't great and inconsistent and appears DIY.
    • The navigation bar displays the BlogPortfolio dropdown all the time and that and the other dropdowns aren't laid out well.
    • The page width is too wide.
    • The videos are not working in FF.
    • Some items are clickable but just reload the page.
    • The subscriber info button text layout is broken.
    • The Portfolio and Watchlist go to a signup type page which is not what is expected. So do some other links. It's not obvious what is going on. Actually too many links are pointing to the sign up which makes it appear that you are too concerned with pushing sign ups too aggressively without making a decent pitch first. This is also frustrating for users with so many clicks being 'wasted'.
    • The what you get model (free vs signup) isn't clear.
    • The testimonials lack credibility. There a bit fluffy and lack tangible success stories with returns. Eg. you say 48.8% return, but over what period, a year, five years???
    • The who you are and why someone should use you aren't addressed well.
    • The Contact page needs a textarea for general feedback/requests/comments.
    • Requiring a phone number is a reason for fewer people to sign up.
    • You are taking information in which requires a privacy policy.
    • There's no company information.
    • The ShareLadder Portfolio Archive isn't integrated properly.
    • The Newsletters could do with some work on their readability.
    • Some of the lifestyle type images on the homepage are rights managed. Make sure you have the correct licence to use them or the likes of GettyImages might land a hefty invoice your way.
    • You have some credit cards listed on the homepage implying a cost but nowhere are any costs mentioned that I can see.
    • Consider some sort of free trial.
    • Also consider capitalising the L in ladder - ShareLadder.

    hope that helps
