I've just gotten insured on my parents car for the test but am not sure if the documents will get to me by Thursday (test day) I have to get them by post, send them back and get them back again). Does the tester look for proof of insurance or is it taken for granted? Stupid question I suppose but a clear answer would be very useful.

Didn't specifically look for proof of insurance from me, just checked the disc. I did have the policy with me though.

I imagine they could ask for it alright, but a quick call to your insurance company could sort that out on the spot, like police on Road Wars do.
