Engine light on Corsa?

    The orange engine light comes on in the dash of my corsa. It only comes on when i'm not accelerating e.g going downhill or braking. When I accelerate it goes off again. The car is going fine so I want to avoid the cost of going to a garage. Anyone know what's causing this?

    The engine light can be caused by a fault in any of the engines electronic systems so its impossible to give an idea of what would be causing it.

    I think it used to be an early sign of alternator problems, so it might be worth starting there. Good luck.

    I'm going to get it serviced and then see. The fact that it goes off when I accelerate might narrow down the problem I thought.

    Unless you are due a service then having it serviced has no relevance to your problem.

    You need to have the fault diagnosed by someone with a decent diagnostic computer.

    I changed the oil, filter and air filter. The oil filter was very worn and also one of the pipes into the carburettor was nearly blocked with gunk which we cleaned out. The light has not come on since. Maybe there wasn't enough air getting through? Anyone know of a product to clean out the whole system, maybe to mix with the petrol.
