Hi all. I have just got a part time 30hrs/wk job after a long layoff. Thing is, i start tomorrow and have not told them i need 3 days (fri/sat/sun) off in mid december. Should i have told them at interview or will it be ok to mention it this week? I'm up the wall about it. Don't want them to think i'm an axxhole for not telling them. I've been unemployed for nearly a year. Thanks in advance.

You want the time off in mid Dec so tell them about it mid November.

If you were looking for a month off, I'd say you should have told them, but three days???

Tell them a month in advance.

    Congrats on the new job.

I would tell them sooner, if the company gets busier at that time of year for whatever reasons.

It might not be a big deal in a normal office, but could be a big deal if it's working for a department store or something like that.

Started this morning. Jasus it's great to be back in the workforce. On break now and looking forward to going back in. Thanks for all the replies. Doesn't look like the days off will be a problem.

Most companies ask that at the interview stage. Don't think the onus is really on the interviewee.
Congrats on the job. The best workers are the ones who are grateful to have a job so i'm sure you'll do great.
