These bastards have anything we've ever put on there site, stored on there severs indefinitely. Why and how is this legal. It's ****ing insane, to think they have every photo any of us uploaded kept, for ever.
Not that I put anything too personal on facebook anyway, actually saying that my phone number is on there, but why do they do this. It needs to be made illegal in this country right away.

I hope your parent is proud after that escapade. If I was to repeat some of the things you said to me in public, I'd be shunned.

If I was you I'd be learning to use a toilet before I even attempted to go out in public, one step at a time man. You'll get out of the pampers one day.

No love, you see, even if you delete your account, they keep EVERYTHING! It's not entirely legal and they're not supposed to do it.
Suppose someone like you or me wanted to enter politics one day, but we had previously supported some harsh right winged views and been captured in photography and uploaded to someones facebook, but then deleted. We'd still be there on there servers just waiting to be leaked to the press.

There is an audit being done on Facebook in relation to Irish Data Protection laws. Was in the news a few months back. A quick google will tell you all you need to know: http://tinyurl.com/6hylc3j

That aside you agreed to their terms and conditions when you signed up. It's all in there in black and white. If you didn't take the time to familiarise yourself with the T&C's of the service then it's tough on you really.

They don't hide the fact that they do this. People just don't bother to inform themselves and tick the box to get the service, no matter what the consequences.

The real question is not when will they change this, it's when will people realise that there is important information in the terms and conditions of EVERYTHING!?!?!?!? If you refuse to read a document that outlines the service in detail, don't bitch about it when you realise there's something you don't like about the service, that has been explained in the document that you refused to read.

This isn't just about facebook this is something that happens with every service that's out there. People who whine and complain are 9 times out of 10 the people that didn't take 5 minutes to read the small print/fine print/Terms and conditions/regulation etc etc etc.

    Start using Google+

Some people are perfectly happy not using social networking sites, but I've found that so many of my friends are now scattered in every corner of the world that it makes contact with most of them impossible.

+ is great, only problem is there's not a whole load of people using it yet. I got in on the Beta test and it's was sparse then, it's improved but not by much. Facebook is still unfortunately king of the social networking sites. Thanks for that link by the way, great info in there.

Because email, skype and viber are so hard to use, right? They are on every new smart phone now and all. Who needs FB except people who want all their info in the public domain and then cry when they can't delete it, boo hooo.

I'm not crying about anything. I don't have anything on there that I'm afraid of Facebook having (although I understand and appreciate the general principle of them storing info).

I don't like skype and viber tbh, and if you think social networking and email are like comparators then I don't think you're using the social networks right :D

you do understand that when you sign up on facebook you click a T&C box to say you understand everything and that you will play by the rules. If you'd have read it you would understand that it stated all information displayed on facebook belonging to you belongs to facebook. I typed my name in on Google before and my picture was in the images. ?
