Was updating to ios 5 this evening and the download got interrupted twice and then again when installing....dont ask...total nightmare!!
Anyway the end result is I have ios 5 now and nothing else-no contacts,no emails,photos,music,apps....all gone. Don't know where it all went wrong tbh. I back up regularly and did this evening before I started but I can't find anything anywhere?? Surely all my stuff has to be stored somewhere-any ideas where I can find it?

In iTunes try right clicking on your device name on the left hand side, then press restore from back up.

    hi 400R,

i had trouble when upgrading also, which left me with an IOS 5 phone, contacts, but that was it.
i went through without problems but when the process automatically moved to restore from the backup it created at the beginning, it asked me for a password!! i hadnt entered one! and if i did in the past, as i never got asked for it before at upgrades, i dont remember it!
anyone else retrieve this password somehow? its still asking for it to finish upgrade properly at every time i sync, so i still have the option.
    any help appreciated.

Try your pass code, that worked for me.

The 4 digit pass code you use to access your phone after its been idle for a min or so (asuming you've one set up that is).

Yeah my problems seemed to start when i got to the end of the install and it kept telling me my SIM was locked. By the time i unlocked it i had to go back to the start and start again...and again.....
I turned 'SIM pin' off in 'settings' > 'phone' and that seemed to at least let me install iOS 5. I still had nothing left on my phone at this stage but as advised above right clicking on 'device name' and 'restore from backup' got most of it back. Only could recover from a back up from about a month ago even though there was 3 other up to date back ups available but had nothing on them??? Also i seem to have most iOS 5 upgrades now but icons still look the same as well as some other cosmetics missing? Anyhoo...i'm leaving well enough alone for now as i plan upgrading to 4s as soon as its available.

On a different note it's amazing how much you really rely on a smartphone now...i nearly had a coronary when i lost everything off it. Long gone are the days when all you really could lose was a few phone numbers and 5 or 6 barely visible photos! :D
