After Laser Eye Surgery

    Hi folks.
I just want to ask about people's experiences after they had the surgery.
I had it done 1 week ago. The day after the surgery I was better than 20/20.
One week later it is 20/20 but I can't see as well as when I wore glasses. The numberplate of a car 20 odd foot in front of me is blurred.

The Optometrist said that my eyes are dry and still settling. But I am afraid this is as good as it's going to get. After all I have technically 20/20 vision.
I know you can have better vision that 20/20, such as 20/15 and 20/10 but I thought what I had with my glasses was 20/20?

What are other people's experience with their vision after surgery?

I had mine done 5 weeks ago - I had no problems, but it is really important to overdo the drops.

It takes a while though for both eyes to merge - my left one was slightly blurred but now both are better than 20/20

I'd say if you wore glasses you'd see a huge change - with lenses I don't. But last week going away it was so good not to have to take solutions/glasses/lenses!

The figure you get for what you can see, 20/20, 20/15 or 6/9, is only a measure of what you can read on the chart and that does not really tell you what you can see. The chart is high contrast but most things in life are not so black and white and lighting conditions are not controlled as well as in the consulting room.

Problems with glare will improve as your dry eyes improve, how long that will take varies from individual to individual.
