Get insured just for the test?

Are there any companys that will insure a provisional licence driver for a day just to take the test?

I know some of the driving schools provide this service but at the price they are looking for it is not an option. (including the cost of taking the required 5-10 lessons before you can do it)

I have a full A licence but I want a car licence to try apply for different jobs.

As far as I know, you can get a friend who has a car (and insurance) to add you as a named driver for a short period of time, perhaps a day, perhaps a week minimum.

It might be a bit costly as there is an admin fee associated with adding people (plus they'll have to send out new letters, outlining period of cover, etc.). I've been added to my father's car quite a few times as a named driver, to help out with driving on holidays, etc.

I think a lot of driving instructors will give you their car at a discounted rate if you do a pre-test with them?

    Could be wrong though.

Most instructors would insist on doing at least one lesson/ pre test in their car to make sure they are okay with giving their car to you.

Yes OP you can get insured for just one day, a friend of mine got insured on my car for the day of her test. I just had to ring up and ask them to put her down, they charged around €30 for the day I think.
