have you enough space on your HDD, is your itunes up to date?
Have you tried put the phone in DFU mode to see if it updates?
Have you tried # out the apple server in your windows/osx hosts file

The usual reason for this is your anti-virus program is seeing the .ipsw file as a threat. I know Kaspersky and ESET/Nod 32 programs have a problem. Try disabling your Anti-virus program while you are trying to download and update and see if it works.

Trying to get iOS5 onto iPod Touch 3g. Not getting a kick at all.

As far as I can tell it is supported but no clue as to why I'm not getting anywhere. Am I wrong in this assumption? Thanks.
