Hi we are planning to start building in the new year. We plan on having a thermal store,to which our oil boiler, back boiler and solar panels will be connected to it. We are trying to decide where to put the oil boiler
    1) In the utility-minimise heat loss, but may be noisy, what about servicing it-could be messy?
    2) In the garage-the main issue here is that the garage is about 10-12m away from house so I am concerned about the heat loss.
What have other people done? What would you recommend. Thanks

I would have the oil boiler fitted in the utility:) At least it minimises heat loss. They can be a bit noisy but not really that bad and can smell of oil sometimes. This was on our old oil boiler years ago so I'm sure they have improved. It's not really that messy to service so long as the service person works tidily and puts a cloth down.
