Hi I was wondering can somebody help me . My car is doing about 75/80 kilometres for €10 of petrol I thought this was bad but a friend says it's ok my question is . How many miles to the gallon is the car doing on those figures I can never work that out also the car is a 1•7 petrol I am putting about €110 a week into would I be better off buying a diesel car around an 2007/8 car . If anyone can answer please do .

Fill you car to the brim. Reset trip. Drive 100 miles. Refill and take note of litres used. Use online calculator to work out MPG. You should do this to get an average figure.

Fuel economy is based on a fairly large list of variables.

How many liters to you put in a week and how many miles/kms do you get for that number of liters? That will tell you what mpg or L/100kms your doing currently.

But the type of driving your doing, your driving style, condition of tyres, weight of the car etc etc will all effect the fuel economy.

IMO the vast majority of people could get much better mpg from whatever car they drive if they changed their driving style.
