England - poor losers!

John Inverdale (yes he is English!) informed listeners on 5 Live this morning that of the 18 teams now finished with the RWC, only England failed to stay on the pitch after their final game and applaud their fans. Pretty poor show in my opinion and caps a deadful RWC for them in addition to the off the field incidents.

    Interesting. Didn't notice it.

I wonder if they had really counted their chickens and didn't rate the French side...

There's a lot of unlike-able characters in that English squad

Ashton with his idiotic swan dive every time he scores a try (and before anyone says it, I know Earls did it too and I didn't like it)

Dylan Hartley, just don't like him since the Northampton Munster games two years ago

Lawes, serious prospect but don't think I've ever seen him smile,

Dan Cole, another surly looking ****er, stupid beard and overrated prop

Tualagi, disgraceful punch on the afore mentioned Ashton

Steve Thompson, ugly looking ****er who enjoys kissing Argentinian locks

I'm gone off topic a bit and just went on a rant about the English players I hate!

For the record I like: Foden, Flood, Cueto, Easter Shaw and Moody

Am I seriously the only person in Ireland who likes Ashtons dive

    Yes.

It's this arrogance which I both hate and respect, England consistently play better than the sum of their parts due to this mentality (granted they didn't in this WC)

I saw this thread start a few hours ago and hoped it would drift off into the abyss with out a reply, really who cares.

It falls into the same category as the "Wales Sore Losers" thread, should start up a thread called "Ireland - Sore Losers, Poor Winners" and see the lead balloon that thread would be, different people handle situations differently be they Fans or Players, thats life...

I can understand it better after I read he didn't do it intentionally, it just happened as he was so elated from crossing the line.

On topic, this thread is ridiculous imo. Seems like an excuse to just bash the english. Imagine reading a thread like this about Ireland on an english forum

Someday he is going to drop the ball during one of those dives upon which I am going to board the first flight to wherever the game in question is being played to point and laugh heartily at him.

I really just dont see the big deal about it, Dont really see anyone complaining about the South Africa reserve SH doing it, Off point I dont actually like Ashton as a player would love someone to give him a few smacks

I hate Ashtons dive, not because its a dive but because its a rubbish dive, his feet hit the ground first, the fact that he spreads his arms out like a fool just makes it look better than it is.

I can see kids going out and copying it. Thats the main problem I have with it. Celebrating in ANY way before you score a try is stupid imo.

I started the thread and I was merely pointing out the fact that England did not acknowledge their fans many of whom obviously spent a lot of money and time to go to the other side of the world to support them. They were the only side not to do this. I think that adds up to a poor show. Am I not right?

yes, it is a poor show...maybe it shows how self centred they are

or maybe they were so shell shocked about the result they felt embarrassed to face the fans

Seriously :p ? Personally I can't stand BOD, horrible bulbous ankles on him. And surely you can come up with something more damning than not smiley enough for Lawes given his history, put a bit more effort in :p

The biggest problem with Chris Ashton's dive is apparently Martin Johnson has asked him repeatedly not to do it!

Besides I think it's amazing the amount of 'who cares' and 'this thread is a waste of time' people on here. If you don't like the thread Don't post on it!!! simples!!!

On topic it's very note worthy England's behaviour having been knocked out of the world cup. Not to acknowledge fans who had shelled out hundreds to follow their team is disgraceful.

You're telling me to put more effort in and your citing BOD's ankles as a reason to dislike him?

    Your country doesn't have sarcasm?

It's not exactly something that's easy to convey through text

Ya its bad form alright to disrespect the supporters like that, didn't Ireland do the same thing in 07 after the Argentina game?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,549 ✭✭✭Noffles

    Wales are bad losers

    England are bad losers

Well the one good thing about living in Ireland, at least you're not bad losers... or did I not see that thread?

    It's already happening! :(

    http://www.irishtimes.com/blogs/deadrubber/2011/10/21/all-blacks-take-the-ordinary-and-put-the-extra-to-it/#more-796

    Final paragraph:
Finally and hopefully putting the much debated red card to bed I wish to advance the following. Last Sunday my nephew Oisín scored two tries while playing for Old Crescent under 8s. Nothing new there! That both were out of the Chris Ashton school of diving was hilarious but therein lies the message. If an U8 copies the spectacularly creative he will also mimic the spectacularly destructive.
