What are Google playing at ? Nearly every day now the Google logo celebrates the "birthday" of someone "famous". Today it's Mary Blair's birthday (who). She is 100 years old......and she died in 1978. Absolutely ridiculous.....

I can't wait for 29th November to see who they choose.....It's literally a toss up between Rosemary West and Ryan Giggs

I rarely even pay attention to the google logo, and if I do notice a change I never click it.

If you know their name, they're not anonymous.

too right. it's the essence of the world wide web...

They've actually been criticised for not featuring doodles on the typical American patriotic memorial days...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Google#Doodles

Ya its nice to take a moment out of your day to read up on someone from history who you otherwise would probably never have known existed.

Mary Blair (October 21, 1911 – July 26, 1978), born Mary Robinson, was an American artist who was prominent in producing art and animation for The Walt Disney Company, drawing concept art for such films as Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Song of the South and Cinderella.[1] Blair also created character designs for enduring attractions such as Disneyland's It's a Small World, the fiesta scene in El Rio del Tiempo in the Mexico pavilion in Epcot's World Showcase, and an enormous mosaic inside Disney's Contemporary Resort. Several of her illustrated children's books from the 1950s remain in print, such as I Can Fly by Ruth Krauss. Blair was honored as a Disney Legend in 1991.

there ya go. are you a Disney Legend? didnt think so.

Hi, I like doing sudoku and going for long walks on the beach. I also collect action figures and classic comics. I keep them in their original packaging. To unwind, I like to arrange my action figure in different orders, e.g. one week by date they first were introduced, after that I like to mix it up with some alphabetical order or else by awesomeness of their special powers.

How do you determine which powers are the most/least awesome?

I wouldn't mind if it was done in a less distracting manner. The other day it was some spooky looking thing waving at me and pointing to a letter in the word 'Google'. I ignored it and got on with my day, still ignoring it, but found it very annoying. Unless they make it a static 'advert', I'm going to change my browser!

You do realise changing your browser isn't going to affect Google's homepage, don't you?

If someone is dead, it's not their birthday anymore. That's my main problem

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,034 ✭✭✭Ficheall

If the person hasn't just been born within the past 24 hours then it's not their birthday either. It may be an anniversary of their birth day, which is what Google makes note of...

It kind of is, they were still born on the same day.
