    Hi

I'm liking these boots in clarkes but am afraid that they won't last with the weather in Ireland.

    http://www.clarks.co.uk/find/product-is-20341832

They are snuff leather that kinda feels like suede. Does anyone have any experience with this type of leather? Sales assistant says they are fine in rain once you buy protective spray (of course!!).

Dint want to waste 100 euro on boots that will get wrecked.

    Does the spray work??

Many thanks, sorry haven't worked out how to get URL address on iPad so haven't posted pic

They look like they'd be wrecked in snow anyway.
You don't really want boots that you have to be extra careful with, like not stepping in a puddle etc..
Personally, I wouldn't get those because I think an Irish winter would ruin them.

    Don't do it!

Bought a pair a black pair of these last year. Took good care of them. But they still look pretty worn at this stage.

Get a pair of leather boots instead. And don't believe the shop assistants. I asked the exact same question when I bought these last year and was told they would be fine!

    They are lovely boots, though...

    Thanks for the replies all

Not going to buy them even though i really like them.

An bhanrian I was looking at the black ones which are really nice too. Glad to get feedback from someone who has them. Sales assistants were trying to push the spray and saying they would be fine etc... But didn't really believe them.

Back on the lookout for a nice brown leather pair now!

Timberland do similar styles. Most of their boots are water repellent or waterproof. I find the staff in Timberland to be very helpful and they won't push something on you that's not suitable.
