    I love the 'Turn off the ignition to fix this problem'. Try that on a motorway at 120kph, power steering gone

    Don't press the clutch and it will still work(at least on mine anyway). Not sure how bad that would be for some cars though :) But I'd rather that than to cause a big crash.

    Surely the foot brake would disengage the cruise?
