Text FIVER to 51101 (standard text rate applies) by October 24th and get €5 credit within 48 hours. You could also win an iPhone 4 apparently.

I got this email sent directly to me but hopefully it applies to all O2 Golden Sim customers.

Here are the Terms and Conditions.

What's the smallest amount to top-up the Golden Sim? the catch is you can't send the text to 51101 with no credit...

    Who are Xiam Interactive?

Same crowd used by RTE so you should be safe enough.

The rationale by O2 I imagine is that a huge number of golden sims have 0 credit and will need to be topped up in order to send the text to 51101.

    €5 from a shop. Think €10 online

can you get one of those lend me things? The price of the text would come out of the fiver then.

If you have topped up that sim sometime in the past you could possibly use the Lend Me service, assuming it still works.

Edit: phasers can type faster than I can

I guess most people aren't topping them up hence the offer.

Still 10 for 5 isn't a bad deal. I wonder will it cause you to get spam though.

I haven't put a cent in credit on mine, only use it to make calls. :pac:

Texted the code to the number and got a text back saying " if eligible, your bonus credit will be applied within 48 hrs " ... fingers crossed !

topped mine up with fiver few weeks back just in case it might expire like a normal sim when not used, anyone know if this happens or if theres a warning

I'm not sure if there is a warning, but I have been told it can expire like a normal sim if no chargeable call or text is made for 6 months...

6 months without a chargeable transaction and the card expires, iirc.

That might be the reason for the offer, wonder whats the reason for the prize. Looks like an information gathering exercise.

I don’t think this applied to the original Golden Sims - there was nothing in the T&C anyways.

Follow the directions of this post from this thread if you have not received the credit. I don't think anyone has yet and it's been almost two weeks.

Dont know if this applies to golden sims only but O2 may be doing a rerun of the free fiver topup.
Perhaps only for those who missed it before as I havent received a text alert.
Runs from 14th to 24th - anyone receive an alert?

    Thanks, fired off a text.

The funny thing is if you paid your twenty and got free texts to any Irish network for the month they still charge you for these texts.

Only whoever received the text is eligible to receive the top up.

    From T&C:

"Your right to avail of the Promotion (eligibility) is as per the notice given by an O2 agent or in an SMS sent by O2. This notice declares that the entitlement is personal to the notified customer and may only be used in respect of the qualifying O2 mobile number. The offer is non-transferable."
