Placed a bet about two months ago on Michael D Higgins and forgot all about it. Out of the blue this morning I get an email saying that Boyles are already paying out on Higgins and my bets a winner.. Anyone else get this or is it a mistake? If it's true then I have 60 bucks to add to my beer fund at the weekend

The payout will cost them €125,000. Nice bit of cheap advertising there. Far cheaper than a sequence of adverts on prime time tv.

That is the smart part about it. It won't cost them a penny unless another candidate wins, as they would have to payout twice if that happens.

Its true that they will get good publicity and advertising out of it, but it wont cost a penny. This is a Paddy Power move normally, beat to the punch this time around.

Last time I checked a few days ago MDH was 11/8 and SG was 4/5 with Paddy Power. Now MDH is the 1/3 favouriite and SG has dropped back to 2/1. What has happened? Was a new poll released or what?

Anyone remember Dome bookmakers who paid out on Arsenal and then Man Utd won the league. Or maybe it was the other way around
Well they got so much advertising out of it that mistake probably ended up not being a mistake after all

Yes, Michael D has been slashed to 1/3
The final Red C poll is in the Sunday Business Post this weekend, maybe it was leaked to the bookies
Or they saw an avalanche of money piling in so they just paid out and closed the book

People probably sobered up and realized that that SG is really a cardboard cut out made from old FF placards and posters.

Perhaps people might recognise that MDH is a creature of the public sector unions given the Labour links.
