Would this affect a person's right to physically defend themselves if they find a burglar in their home? Seeing as they are classing burglary as only a "petty crime" now......

I know it's the daily mail, but I'm wondering if there's any truth in it.

The Daily Mail is a tissue of lies. I used to think it was distortions to promote a viewpoint, but now I'm pretty convinced it's just total fabrication. By a pack of cu.nts

A lot of the fookers already get suspended sentences/juvenile intervention or the like. There's a very thin facade of civilisation out there.

Actually most things in life are more appealing than reading the daily mail.
I myself would love a blowjob but not coffee.
I could make the coffee for you but for the blowjob you will have to seek other avenues for that pleasure and judging by your username
the spartans were quite fond of homosexuality and Galway is rife with them.

I know it's the DM but I'd be inclined to believe more of that than the usual crap they print...Assistant commissioner's internal report, failure of Alan Shatter to comment and refer it back to AGS press office...solely as a means to cut over time and time spent in court, effectively decriminalising "petty" crime such as burglary for a first offence and only allowing ranks fro seargeant and up to press charges, makes sense...it cuts staffing costs and legal aid costs and the costs of the court.
The gardaí are facing a staffing crisis and we're in a time of increasing levels of crimes against properties...the figures don't instill confidence that this is merely another scare story tbh...

Well I do - as I have a thief living in a residence next door to me who has just got back out of prison after 6/7 months for 3 armed robberies.
He keeps his weapons when he can, apparently in a shed in the garden. When he's not doing that, he's in the drug game.

He would just laugh at a yellow card! Christ!

I would suggest using your charm with ladies/lads of a persuasive nature
to save us both time and effort.:)

I have - I do. I have thought of other security measures to boot and able/willing to implement them.
The Gardi and myself are on very friendly terms.

Is this going to have homeowners take more action themselves

If they know Anto the neighborhood thief won't get done for the burglaries he's doing in the estate, what's to stop a few men in the estate getting together and giving him a thrashing and ordering him out?

Sure they may as well, nobody fears a yellow card
Come on, yellow card :D. It's like something a teacher gives a bold child in senior infants

I have a friend you owns a small forecourt and shop in Galway and the Guards have told him out straight, that any body caught nicking will not be charged or even questioned regarding it.Also the Guards and been told not to bother with anybody under the age of 18 with regards to anti social behaviour, theft or vandalism as they dont have the resources to deal with them.
So now its a case of somebody can stroll into the shop pick up something and just walk out without the fear of them been done.In my own home town two lads under the age of 18 held up a local taxi office at knife point and the judge said because they are under 18 he will impose a non prison term even though the youths have over 30 convictions between them, and the taxi firm never got there 700 Euro back.

Probably, but you do supply them with information and video footage of a neighbour who you believe to be involved in crime?

What you maybe mean to ask also is, would I hand over video footage of a known drugseller and armed robber that might lead to him being put behind bars - with the additional benefit that my kids are safe from his guns in his garden and by any troublemakers he brings around on a regular basis?

    Damn right I would!
If anyone has a problem with that, tough!

I have a drug addict close to where i live and the scum he brings around our street is unbelievable. Used syringe in my garden last week. Old people scared out of their lives. One old lady, 85 years, robbed in her home a few weeks ago and her life savings taken, 4,000 e. Have no doubt it was him or some of his mates but the Garda have no proof. She told neighbours that it was for her funeral. No prints left. Why should elderly people or young people for that matter have to live with these scum in their midst trying to poison them.
