My Wife's Desire S has been rebooting 2/3 times a day, i've done 2 Factory Resets and still the same.

Spoke to HTC on the online chat thing yesterday and they're picking the handset up by courier today and taking it away for repair, only had it 4 months so still under warranty.

Has anybody else used this service? Any idea of the turnaround time?

I'll update this thread when i get the phone back and with any other info, seems pretty good though that they'll pick it up and drop it off for free, saves taking it into the place we bought it.

Yes. At least one week, closer to two. I had to arrange my own delivery to uk.

I still have original desire for last 1.5 years & in that time i sent it back to HTC for repair 3 times for a rebooting fault. 1st time they replaced processor/complete mother board... your IMEI will change if they do this.. and 6 months later it started doin it again. On third return they replaced it.
I have to say they've been great. The 1st repair was sent back by carphone warehouse, but after 1year i was on my own.. but HTCs warranties are for 2 years. I had similar issues getting UPS to collect, took a week on 2nd return before eventually collected..but other than that, have had returned within 2 weeks each time. Really cant fault their service... well done HTC, credit where due etc.
The new replacement desire is flying now & im due another upgrade next month... was gonna look at SG2 but defo sticking with HTC.. sensation XE is next methinks!!

I recently sent my phone away to HTC. I find their customer service at an impeccable level. Initially it was decided that I was to post the phone to them in the UK, but on further discussion they acquiesced to have the phone picked up by and courier and returned in the same manner (UPS).

I think the whole process took about 6/7 working days, with the necessary repair carried out.

They were really efficient in my opinion.

Fonemenders -- just to mention for comparative reasons, naturally:pac: -- were listless and uninterested about anything regarding the repair and return (hence the reason I directly contacted HTC). I know Fonemenders don't carry out repairs on HTC phones but they were the go-between as it were and were unhelpful and always seem to distance themselves when queries were conducted.

There is also a company, SBE, who operate in Ireland and carry out repairs in Ireland for HTC. These guys are a complete shambles and conspired only to return my phone in a worse condition than when it arrived to them.

I strongly advise anyone that wants a repair on a HTC phone to sidestep these guys (and Fonemenders, for that matter) and contact HTC immediately. Don't have these guys look at your phone. The HTC lads in the UK were shocked at the condition my phone was returned (I had before and after pictures as proof). SBE vehemently and aggressively denied any wrongdoing, but as per the pictures they could do little to refute it. I was/am considering complaining to them but I'm not sure I'll bother at this stage.

Sorry for going off the point there, but I felt my experience is somewhat related and maybe of use to someone:pac:.

    An update on this

Was 'repaired' by HTC and sent back but was still restarting 1/2/3 times a day, did a Google search and apparently a lot of people have complained of this for Desire/Desire S (she has the S)
Something to do with it overheating slightly, causing the restart.

Mentioned it to a mate in work, he noticed i have a gel protective case round my DHD, asked if my wife had one on hers, which she has.

Removed it and since last week it's not restarted once, i guess somehow the gel case was making it hotter????
