Have the codes read. You'll probably get "side airbag resistance too high" or some such. The connecting plugs in many vw's are very sensitive and in a lot of cases the plug needs to be cut off and the wires joined directly. This is not a cowboy method but is actually a suggested vw repair. But DO NOT do this yourself, bring it to a dealer. You must have disturbed the yellow plug somehow when you were there. I've seen bottles rolling around doing the same thing.

Disconnect the plugs and clean with electrical contact cleaner and then reconnect, then have fault cleared with VCDS - i have done this many many times for both seat and steering wheel airbags always works.

No need to disconnect the battery, just make sure key is not in ignition. You will pick up a can of electrical contact cleaner in any motor factors,a light spray in both female and male connections and allow dry before re-connecting.

You will then need someone with VCDS to clear the code and make sure all is good, what part of the country you in?

What part of the country you in? find someone near you with VCDS and you will get it cleared for a few beer tokens.Bring it to a main dealer and you are talking 60/70 euro.
