Aircon compressor

Is there anywhere to get an aircon compressor reconditioned? Have searched online but haven't found anyone that does.

I have a one that the clutch is not engaging. It's a second hand replacement I purchased a few months ago. Only got it fitted and re-gassed recently. Had it with the local mechanic to troubleshoot and it all points to the compressor I'm told.

What kind of car is it? A/C system on most cars will not activate the A/C clutch if there is another problem with it e.g no gas, faulty pressure sensors, etc. Did he check if it's getting a signal to turn on? Did the A/C work at all after fitting the last compressor.

Honda Accord. Had the compressor replaced and re gassed recently. Pressure is good. No leaks. Mechanic tried power direct from battery to compressor, no joy. Also looked at the high pressure switch which is poorly located under the front reg plate so all the road crap can hit it. Tried bridging it to see if it was stuck open. Still no a/c. As I only had the a/c re gassed recently it's the first time I tried it. Compressor is only in a couple of months.

I'm not at all familiar with the a/c system on anything other than a vw to be completely honest. But bridging the sensor will not tell you anything. It's not just an on off type of sensor. a/c pressure has to be in a specific range. Bridging a sensor will tell it it's either 0 or whatever the max reading is. Either of these readings will not let the a/c activate anyway. Also, if it is a clutchless type compressor then direct power is also not the right thing to do. They use varying voltage to control an internal valve instead of an on off clutch.

As I said, I have no experience with a/c on non VAG cars but I reckon you need more diagnosis. Did you have the fault codes read? You never said what year, but it may have a seperate control unit for the HVAC system which may have a stored fault.
