Im new to this Boards.ie posting thing so I hope I have done this correctly. Was just in Currys Carrickmines today and they have a SONY 40" LCD SMART TV (1080p, 50HZ) on sale for €579 but you get €120 cash back on a VISA card to spend anywhere and 5 YRS warranty - so the TV works out at €459 + 5 YRS warranty. Went to DID after and they are doing the same deal but no warranty! Getting mine tomorrow in Carrickmines!

    What's this about?

"Picture enhancement - X-Reality picture engine"

Did Sony stop doing Bravia engines?

Belfast is a bit far in a knackered old Mazda!! It doesnt seem to have the 5yr Sony Warranty either, which Currys are offering. Thanks for the heads up though.:)

Not sure if that is a 100hz panel. I bought a 100hz Panny last year thinking it was 100hz only to realise it's "100hz BLB", which refers only to the backlight.

From a review of another Panasonic:
Motion clarity remains the TX-L42E6B’s biggest weakness, despite being equipped with “100Hz Back light Blinking” which is Panasonic’s backlight scanning technology that attempts to reduce the sample-and-hold effect largely responsible for the motion blur we perceive on LCDs.
The underlying LCD panel is still 50Hz, which is borne out by a motion resolution of between 250 and 300 as determined via the scrolling test chart in the FPD Benchmark disc. Unfortunately the Panasonic E6 doesn’t feature any onboard motion-compensated frame interpolation (MCFI) system to help the TV out in this area. On a positive note, there’s little in the way of black trailing commonly seen on VA-type panels.
