Hi all,can someone please advise on a remedy to a stone cold radiator?
i have bled it of all its air, ive taken it outside and hosed out the sludge,i have removed the t.r.v. and tapped the pin, ive swapped the top piece of the t.r.v. with one from a working radiator, ive drained the system and swapped the bottom half of the t.r.v. with one from a working radiator. ive tried to balance all of the radiators by turning down the lock shield valves on the working radiators and leaving the cold one open, ive shut off all of the working radiators in order to force some flow into the cold one but this seems to cause the boiler to go into malfunction mode which stops the heating altogether. this is a new boiler with new t.r.vs on 3 upstairs radiators and a new timer and control system all fitted in april of this year by bord gais so i think its time to call those guys back to fix whatever they didnt fix the first time. This radiator is cold since they installed the new system but it wasnt in use due to warm weather so its dead state has only been noticed now.The gas fellas ran a full sludge treatment and a power flush on the whole system but when i hosed out the radiator there was a lot of black sludge and more came out of the hose when i drained the system this morning. any new ideas would be much welcomed.....

I would suggest that if it has never worked since the installation that your system needs balancing - Get the back as they should stand over the work

As you found evidence of sludge after a powerflush at the rad and a power flush costs €600 I would get them back, have connect at that rad and flush again to prove you have movement around your heating system, which is something your lacking at the moment.

thanks for the replies,i kinda thought it would be a case of calling the gas guys back to fix this so at least now i have a second, third and fourth opinion on it.... muchas grazias...

id say crossed pipes . both feeds for rad taken off the flow or return is a possibility if they istalled a new system , try running each pipe into a bucket with heating on until you get hot water out of both pipes , then reconnect and see what happens
