    Dear Sir,
My friend and I were reading the Indo letters section today; here is definitely one of the best letters I've come across in that publication.

    Yours &c.,
Julian Michael Engelbert Padre Mary Byrne-Higgins, Phd.
    Kilbrittian, Co.Cork

What a bright young mind. Most letters in the Independent sound like they come straight from AH

Is the author of that letter a former CEO of Anglo Irish bank?

I haven't read it today, but such a letter wouldn't surprise me!

I don't know many ten year olds that use 'etc.', but even if it was edited by a parent, there isn't much to doubt in its sincerity and that it could have come from a child.

I reckon it's more the editors of the paper that changed the wording of the letter and tidied it up to become more legible. I've had two letter published. The first wasn't changed at really but the second was like a totally different letter. I'll admit I wrote that one a bit hastly and I was glad for the edits. Made my point much clearer.

The idea is most definitely the young lads but the wording is hardly his.

It's a great letter and a pretty impressive idea. Just goes to show the answer may not always be in the form of an indepth fiscal plan. Sometimes the best ideas are very, very simple.

grand ideas from a child , but lets hope people dont pay too much heade, that 10 year old will hopefully learn that cutting spending would also help the government , possibly moreso than our already over-inflated tax system

Right, just because the poor child thought he was saving Ireland doesn't mean you have treat it as a suggestion of substance. Its cuteness is in his honesty, caring and naivety. :)

Never underestimate minors, I have seen some serious valid points made at Dáil na nÓg in the past. Maybe on fiscal issues, naivety is prevalent but there was as much naivety in the last and previous government.

In regards to children's issues, they actually are the experts!

I'd never heard of Dáil na nÓg before. That's actually quite an interesting idea!
