What do you mean you're 'wary of being spotted'? Do you mean in a gay bar?

Do you feel it's wrong to be LGBT?

He obviously doesn't think so. But he's best placed to know whether or not that would cause trouble with his family or in his locality. His decision to make, and he can come out in his own time when he's comfortable.

yes entirely. he totally now accepting of who i am after all these yrs. i know people on here think oh he still lives straight life bla bla. in an ideal world i would be open to everyone but i not ready to upset my life yet tbh.

i did tell somebody in school once and so many bull**** rumours got out and scarred me for life. didnt help that i was on football and rugby team so believe me i av suffered enuf. now i just do things on my terms.

homophobic world i live in for sure and they do my head in but what can i do?

Don't worry about it OP. You don't owe anything to anybody but yourself. As long as you are comfortable with whatever stage you are at, then that's all you need to worry about.

Every Irish gay lad I know -- and I mean that quite literally -- has moved to London in the past year.

If you're not out, I can understand your paranoia. You'll probably find though that people aren't as interested in your sexuality as you think they are.

Go, explore, be safe, have fun.

Maybe it's not always a question of right or wrong, and is more complicated than just those two stark choices.

    London calling this Thursday.

    Alcoweekend!

    :D:D

Heading to London for the weekend myself.

Planning on hitting a gay bar or two one night, but will be with my straight friend so only going for a few drinks and not looking for anything to wild or flamboyant.

    Anybody got any good suggestions?

G-A-Y is always good, and at weekends they often have 'celebrity' acts... It's kind of one of those 'rights of passage' venues, you have to pop in at least once. I think coming up to Christmas they always have last weeks X-Factor eliminee playing...

Thanks for the suggestion, but was hoping for something a bit more low key/laid back. A bar more than a night club ideally.

And preferably somewhere with nothing to do with the X Factor. Not my cup of tea really.

Fair enough, just thought I'd say. I can't remember any of the 'gay' bars, but Old Compton St is the main drag for bars, at the bottom of it near the Ann Summers shop there's a cocktail place that used to be called "The O Bar", it was where I used to go in town. Dunno if it still exists though tbh.

    Cool, thanks.

My friend lives in London so I'm sure she'll have heard of somewhere good!

you might like the admiral duncan on old compton st?
me and my gay boy went on a weekend there a while ago and that was good.
failing that you could go to the candy bar and shoot pool with the lesbians :p

No, my friend would run a mile from the lesbian bar - one of them tried to turn her recently and she didn't take to kindly!

Anyway, how would I score then?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,495 ✭✭✭apache

oh i didn't know you were going solely to score. try the admiral ducan then.
i didn't realise it was all about "scoring". silly me!

****ing lesbians coming on to straight girls
lol she would be so lucky!

i'm sure she would feel more comfortable in a gay bar where gay males love her and give her the attention she likes :D

sounds like a fag hag to me :D

It's not the sole objective but it would be a nice way to top off the weekend. Going to a lesbian bar is like admitting defeat before the battle has even begun!

Far from a fag hag, just had an over enthusiastic lesbo admirer a while back!

I actually ended up going to G.A.Y. In the end! Had a great night up until the nd when I got separated from my friend who had her phone robbed (unbeknownst to me)!

G.A.Y. wasn't what I expected. The bar itself was cool. It small and ended early. We then went on to a members only night in G.A.Y. Late with a few Irish guys who got us in.

It walked past it on Friday night, but never bothered to try it.

    Had a great night anyway.

And there is talent everywhere hahaha
