Hi, hope this is in right section. Basically i drive a Citroen Dispatch Van long wheel base. I put on two new tyres on the front last April and it is literally eating them off again. My tyre depot recommended Federal Ecovan tyres as a good hard wearing tyre but still value for money @ 100.00 euro each fitted. I know Michelin are ging to do the job but at 220.00 per tyre:eek::eek: Anyone any trial of Federal Tyres in general?

For what its worth i had Federals on my car and I had no issue with the tyre wear or noise.

    regards

I find they wear well but have poor grip.

    Just my experience

Have em on my car. Noise is a minor issue, but wet grip is shocking. They'll be gone soon.

    A bit risky with a steer-from-the-rear M5, no?

I swapped a perfectly good set of federal 595s off my car. Woeful wet grip and dry grip is below average too.

Just to advise OP I had them on a bog basic Corolla and it made roundabout fun in the wet.

    I consider them rubbish.

Talk to the guys in the tyre shop though, I dropped a size on my Passat and got a premium set for cheaper than budget tyres of the correct size ;)

On most 'normal' cars it will make little difference

How many miles have you done one them since April and when did you last have the wheel alignment done?

I have about 10,000Km on them and had 4 wheel alignment done the day i got them fitted. Any recommendation for a good make tyre for my van that would give me acceptable wear but not compromise on grip etc without breaking the bank?

TBH I doubt the problem your having is the fault of the tyres, I'd say your carrying heavy loads, have knocked the tracking out again, have a heavy foot, have worn suspension parts or any combination of the above.

What way where the tyres worn?

Tyres wearing evenly, got tracking and suspension checked about 3 weeks ago, bit of creak in roll bar bushings but mechanic said nothing to be too concerned about and not enough to cause any problems. Its front tyres and van is never weighted as only carrying light loads, and I drive pretty averagely!!

Well then the next thing to check is if the tyres you were sold are the correct load rating for the van.

If longevity is what you want cheapo Federals will do the job. When you need grip though, I mean when you really need it, they'll likely let you down and for that reason cheap tyres are a false economy.

Checked that too, load rating of 103. Just resorted to the fact they are s**t tyres, Accelera is the make and to be fair i only paid 90 euro each but was expecting a bit more from them. What about Bridgestone or Semperit? I have GT Radials on my 06 Verso and find them very good on it but seemingly its hard to get GT in that size in Ireland:(

Mt wife had Federal tyres put on to her 04 Fiesta , they were absolutely crap .
They had no wear on them when I replaced them , after a few thousand miles , but the grip was non existant .

The slightest bit of damp on the road and the the car felt like it was sliding around on ice .

Never again will Federal tyres be let near it .

I put Bridgestones on it for her , great grip .

Hi, just getting around to sorting out tyres now, looks like Continental's at 160 euro each, any opinions on this choice?

And for balance, I had Federal 595's on my JCW Cooper S and came 2nd on track after starting at the back of the grid at Silverstone 2 years ago. Found them fantastic.

I have federals on the front of my FWD fiesta, the grip isn't great tbh.
