meh the whole lot of them are a bunch of fools, my dog would make a better and more importantly "cheaper" president :D, the only important thing coming up in this election campaign is that second referendum and its getting zero coverage because of this farce, can anyone explain to me what it is actually about?

While I don't like the guy, there's more to it than what you're saying.

He said: "I did not meet with Kevin Walsh in aftermath of the killing of Garda McCabe and I have no information about the whereabouts of any other suspects or if indeed there are any other suspects.

"The killing of Garda McCabe was unjustifiable. I have condemned it unreservedly.
"A grave wrong was done to the McCabe family and the IRA have acknowledged that and apologised for it.
"I have never and would never stand over attacks on members of the defence forces or the gardaí."

    What's your problem OP?

There are 2 constitutional amendments proposed.

One is a reduction in salary for judges and the second is an amendment that would allow investigation of an individual in matters of public interest.

I'm afraid i haven't read the details of either yet but i think thats the gist of them

    Maybe the family is lying.

    Just a thought.

    Further down that page...
Mr Gallagher said this had been an honest mistake and said it related to a cheque that had been lodged to the wrong account.

FFS... even Father Ted couldn't make that excuse sound funnier.

Sinn Fein did stand over it when they picked the killer up in a car.

He satisfies the constitutional conditions required to stand for president. He is entitled to run whether you like it or not.

I'm no sinn fein supporter but thats democracy. Get on with it.

both actually seem important as opposed to the damn president campaign  seems like someone is trying to avert attention from the amendments

They basically amount to the government wanting more control. I highly advise you take ten minutes and read the referendum website.

agreed that its a huge waste of time and money when we can afford neither , but its amazing how people can be so stupid to want to vote for any of them , the rest of them seem to be side shows but this is the only one that seems genuinely dangerouse , you dont see dana shaking hands with criminals (just buying them xmass presents ) Joke! , surely we irish arent that stupid that we will forget the thing that have been done in our name ? its gass that martin seems to have the mantra its not about he past its about he future , surely its a presons histroy that gets them elected ,

Aye and if you give someone a lift does that mean that the Loyalists stand over your decision to give someone a lift? If I get drunk does that mean, as an Irishman, that Ireland supports me getting drunk? I think not.

    Surely it's their proposed future?

I'm not saying history doesn't play a part in defining someone's character, but I wouldn't vote for someone based on what they have done but rather what they will do.

Note: None of this is in direct reference to MMG, but all candidates for all elections, ever.

What? If Sinn Fein thought the killing was wrong and disgusting, then surely they would have made sure they had nothing to do with the killers? But no, a Sinn Fein TD is waiting to pick them up when they get released.

Doesn't sound like they give a damn in all honesty. Only the gullible would believe Sinn Fein actually care he got killed.

I'll certainly be taking a few minutes over Sunday to check out the details. What would the end result of any investigation be and how do they differ from a garda or criminal investigation

You have no way of knowinh what they will do.

Surely a candidates track record provides a reasonably indicator

A mate of his picked him up from prison, somebody had to pick him up. Stop trying to turn the slightest thing into a political statement. I suppose if he had a poo in a service station on the way home you'd say that Esso supported him by allowing him to use their toilet.
