I recently bought a car,it was an import and i am the first registered irish owner.
The car is booked in for an NCT in the next 2 weeks, what documents do i need for the test?
The car is registered to me & i have received a document from the dept of transport for an application for motor tax.
Do i get a log book when the car is taxed for the first time or how does it work?
Is the log book the document i need for the test?

Sorry,a bit new to all of this.

Yes, when you tax the car for the first time you get sent out the log book at the same time as the tax disc

(have only just done the same thing myself :) )

And, you can tax your car online (save you filling out forms / going to the tax office) - Go to Motortax.ie, put in your registration and your PIN is the last 6 digits of the VIN

It was the log book that i was missing!
Have the car taxed now so i'll get the log book in the post inthe next few days.

The log book is required for the very first nct of an imported car according to both the nct and the dept of transport.

    Thanks again!
