Never feel confident when Celtic play in europe anymore they simply have to cop on and stamp their authority on a game away from home. Play 2 up front and go for it. I'd take a 1-1 draw.

Looking forward to the few beers after work with the mates, not looking forward to the game. Groundhog Day is upon us:(

Rennes a far better side than Celtic. Should be comfortable winners here. This is on at 6 right?

edit: Duh! Its in the thread title!

Celtic XI Forster; Cha, Loovens, Mulgrew, Matthews; Forrest; Wanyama, Kayal, Ki, Ledley; Stokes

subs: Zaluska, Majstorovic, M Wilson, Bangura, McCourt, Callum McGregor & Paul George

4-5-1 Should be a strong midfield, hopefully Forrest & Ledley can get forward to support Stokes. Good to see some of the young players on the bench

Celtic have a real problem with concentrating from kick off, it takes them to concede a goal, or 3, to realise that they'll have to turn up and play and not just go through the motions.

Cha, good going forward but can be caught out defensively easily enough and some of his crossing is done with his head down.

Loovens, decent but a hardworking striker will make mince meat of him as he's prone to lapses of concentration.

Mulgrew, very good with the ball at his feet, excellent dead ball. Has transformed into a good centre back, pity that Celtic didnt see this 10 years ago and start throwing medicine balls at him as a kid!

Matthews, Is playing out of position as a right footed left back which means he can forced into mistakes easily by forcing him to play using his left foot. Good long throw though.

Really we need for Wanyama, Ledley & Kayal to be defensively good tonight to ease the pressure on the defence. If they act like speed bumps then we are going to suffer badly

The jersey looks way nicer without Tennents on the front of it

    EDIT

Different backline to what I thought was going to be played, its better that what i thought he would do!

Steady start midfield should press more tho and support Tony.

They wont though as they are good enough to exploit the space left by someone going out to close down.

Stokes isnt much at holding up the ball, launching it up to him with minimal support is not going to get anywhere not even free kicks.

We just need to hold onto the ball, even if its not going anywhere, Rennes will get frustrated.

    EDIT

Ledley's pace, or the lack of it, is a weakness they are trying to exploit

Well done Glenda, stick your head in where it will get hurt!

Nice finish, gave the keeper no chance.

I was wondering why there was so much trepidation of Rennes and defensive negative tactics and commentary and some on this thread when Celtic were comfortable

Then I've just seen the goal:pac:

I can never understand why when doing a passback, a lot defenders still aim them on target

All they have to do is aim it a yard "wide", and if the keeper fcuks up, a corner is what'll happen.

Terrible terrible play from both Du Ri and Forster

That defense is an absolute shambles. Bring back O'Dea!
