I have up scaled to what I think is full size a pdf drawing of a Channel Master Polar Mount, has anyone got any dimensions to check against my scaled up image.

Also has anyone got any images/side views of the mount?

If anyone has any dimensioned CAD drawings that be even better.

My father's thinking of trying to make one.

    Cheers

Hello remlap, I've trawled my files and I hope this will help. I take it its the 1.2M version?

I have a polarmount out in the shed which I will be setting up soon. I can take pics if you like?

    Let me know.

    JD:)

Hi Greenman, the Polarmount_1.jpg looks like a very strong unit, is it made by you or is it manufactured by a company, if its company manufactured could you link me to where it maybe purchased.

Thank you for you reply and all your attachments, I have posted this on a few different forums and you are the first one to reply to me.

    Many thanks again.

I think thats a polarmount for a 1.8m CM, just throwing out ideas.

What size of dish are you going to use.

    Go to http://www.satellitesuperstore.co.uk/motorisedsatellitedishes.htm

and scroll down. They are a rather dear shop but you might get ideas.:)

Or go to http://www.allsatcom.com/fr/contacts.php ring them ask do they have it the price and the cost to send it. If possible don't mess them around as they are suppliers to the pros. They are really nice, speak english and take a CC. I've bought from them twice found them professional and competive.

Or keep an eye on ebay in the US or the UK.

    Is that any help.;)

    Sure

    Mount pre sandblasting

    Mount after sandblasting

    Crappy photos I know :)

Label I've scanned and touched up tried to keep the shiny look.

Recreation of the adjustment bolt label someone on reddit.com made for me.

Labels will be going on some colour laser printable vinyl to scale also bought some non slip tape to go inside like it originally had, and obviously new bolts, washers and nuts.

    Cheers

Very nice, as you said the quality of the pics could be better.

Will you be powder coating the mount?

I have had very good results with powdercoating.:)

Nearly all done, its been through powder coating, new stainless nuts, bolts and washers and I've added two home made decals in weather proof vinyl.

Top hat bearings and inserts were in good condition they only needed general cleaning and refitting.

In the one picture you can just see that I've added anti slip slightly abrasive tape.

Not sure what do with adjustment bolt and clip for the declination adjuster, might trying plating them at home in a nickel sulphate solution using a couple of batteries as a power source. Any suggestions on this would be great.

    To me it looks great.

Thats a cracking job, you've inspired me to strip mine and bring it to powder coating factory.

Where did you source the stainless steel nuts and bolts?

What did you pay for the sand blasting and powder coating?

Really thats given it a new lease of life:) and as you do not live near the sea it should see you out;).

So how is the dish and lnb looking like?

    Where will you place it.

If you have any cash left over a better camera might be something to think about, but please do not offended.:D

    Once again well done.

    Thank you mate!

Dish is good, it's nearly new honestly, and LNB I've not bought yet but I have a Channel Master Feedhorn so it will be a C120 kind, unless I can find a CM LNB collar adapter.

Sandblasting was £25 and powder coating was done as a favour.

Nuts and bolts some were bought locally and the UNC ones were sourced online.

Next now is Jack and positioner of some kind.

The camera used for the powder coated photos is actually pretty good one its a Fuji in shape off real small SLR but more really a standard camera. It's just my poor photography skills. I am useless :)

Here are the decals I scanned and touched up the Channel Master sticker and someone on reddit.com made me the adjustment bolt sticker.

    fab job,

I have two of these mounts, but in a bad way, must get them cleaned up, also thinking of modifying one for a 1.8 metro CM dish.

    Thanks and good luck ISAA.

Anyone have any idea what to do with the adjustment bolt and clip for the declination adjuster, nickel plating is coming up with home kits that are way to expensive for two items.

If you have a look around tractor restoration sites or mags, i'm sure you'll find a company who does it.

I'll have a look trough my classic tractor mags and see if i can find something

Bought some Cold Galvanising Spray Paint and sprayed it on the adjustment bolt waited for it to dry, stuck on the label then sprayed it with a coat of clear lacquer.

Also I've sprayed a coat of lacquer on both labels on the mount itself, applied lacquer not just on the sticker itself but gave a border around the label to try and stop the water getting in.

So, did you place the dish yet?

Sorry for late reply, no not yet Greenman still collecting some stuff, nearly there just need some 4 core now :) plus I need to clear my garden first it's a mess.

Another new part, a probably unused at least nearly new Venture Skylighter 12" Actuator needs a coat of hammerite in places and was missing a few nuts, bolts and washers which have been replaced, but works properly

I'm taking my time and waiting for Summer :)

Looking good so far, hope the 12 inch will do, I went for the 18 inch actuator.

    Looking forward to seeing more.:)
