How soon to book for Thailand

Hope to be going on Honeymoon in Thailand in Aug. 2012 and have gotten conflicting advice on when we need to be booking flights & hotels.

What would be the latest that I would still get a good deal for main flights and and and swanky hotels (eg 5* in Bangkok)?
Will internal flights & regular hotels on the islands be ok to book nearer the time.

Also how many months before would we need to get any vaccinations?

For the Hepatitis B Vaccine you need six months so getting around to that soon would be important if you decided you were to get that vaccine. With flights to Thailand they can be all over the place and it seems hard to get flights from Ireland to Bangkok for less than €650 at the moment.

The cheapest deals are actually last minute at the moment and Flight Centre put on £349 flights today (€450) as a special sale however they were for November and with Sri-Lankan Airlines so that is obviously a draw back. Emirates from Dublin are the cheapest I've seen and APD (Air Passenger Duty in the UK) is making most flights to anywhere really expensive now.

Internal flights differ in Thailand Bangkok Airways own some of the smaller airports like Samui so they are quite expensive and I paid €115/one way from Samui to Bangkok last minute so you can save some cash if you pre-book some of the internal flights also.

I booked my Flights at the start of April and went at the start of June and spent 820 on the round trip this year (Flew into Bangkok and home from Singapore). I think it was pretty reasonable.

And as for fancy 5* hotels in Bangkok I have to highly recommend the Lebua at State Tower. Amazing hotel, and the breakfasts have to be seen to be believed (spread over three rooms and every type of food you can think of - honey straight from the honeycomb, a man toasts your bread for you in a wood burning oven etc. etc.!)
