Ebay buyer protection

    I bought an expensive item from the states off ebay in early september but never recieved it! After 3 weeks I contacted the seller who said they would contact usps but they never did after another week with no response from the seller I opened a case and yet again contacted the seller who dobbed me off saying that "the ebay system was doen and they couldnt review my case". I then escalated the case, last thursday Ebay emailed me monday saying they needed more time, and again just now saying that my case was on hold and I would hear from them by the 24th! Why are ebay buyer protection taking so long to make a decision? I am just worried as I cant really afford the loss and as the seller has 8 recent negative feedbacks from ebayers who never recieved the same product as me.

    If the seller has provided shipping information then the reason for the case being on hold is most likely to allow time for the shipping to update, my experience with them is that they will try to give the seller every chance to sort things out before refunding but if it hasnt been sorted out by now I would give them a call or an email and push for an update...
