New fork, now brake caliper too long.

So I put a second-hand Specialized carbon fork on my Giant FCR. Now the calipers leave the brake blocks just a little too low on the wheel rim so that 1/5 of the width of the block is on the tapered part of the rim rather than the braking surface. I guess this means the carbon fork is a bit shorter than the original alu fork. The calipers look like pretty short reach to me (tektro dual-pivot original to the bike). I can't see any adjustment I could make to the caliper to raise the block any further other than elongating the slots with a dremel or such. Any thoughts?
