Can anyone tell me what type of insulation would have been used in a floor construction in 2006. (thickness). i think the U-Value was 0.45.
And i know we cant be sure but typically what was used.
    Thanks.

How do you know what the u vale was?

If it was 0.45 it would not have complied with regulations in 2006.
0.45 is particularly bad and would indicate a thin thickness of Polystyrene (EPS).

However in my view PIR and PU foam insulations were much more prevalent as floor insulation in 2006. These are the foil backed yellow high density foams that you see.

Apologies folks, i put in the wrong year. I should have said 1996.
i am carrying out an appraisal on a hotel which was built in 1996, with an extension in 2006. Just to let you know what im at. (student)
My question is what type of insulation, thickness, conductivity would have been typical at the time. im thinking DPM, 50-75mm polystyrene 0.035k, 150mm slab, what do you think.
    Thanks

that sounds about right, should be easy enough to check back to the archived regs though? your library should have them..

sometimes the floor insulation is non existent especially if the hotel was quiet deep plan. the logical was if the perimeter was insulated the rest 'il be grand'
