when i open my documents folder, the laptop freezes

    I really dont know whats wrong here, I have basic skills when it comes to computers/laptops. Basic cleaning and maintaining is as far as i go due to fear of wrecking my stuff.
    The Laptop just freezes when i try to open My Documents and the last time my desktop froze completly. It started when i was transferring files through a key drive.
    Would anyone know what i can do to remedy this. Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Specs.
    Toshiba Satelling L355
    Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2
    Pentium Dual-Core CPU T4200 @ 2GHz 2.00 GHz
    3.00 GB RAM
    32-bit Operating System

    Could be an explorer.exe problem.

    Can you run a chkdsk on it just to be sure.

    After this I'd boot in to safe mode (tap f8 while the machine is booting up and you should get an option to boot in to safe mode with networking), update and run a virus\malware scan too.

    It can also happen when certain video files are copied to the folder. If you have move a video file(s) to the folder recently especially ones downloaded from Youtube? you need to delete them.
